Senior Portrait Make Up

We have had the pleasure of working with Natalie Sinisgalli Senior Photography, doing Make Up for all of their Senior Photo clients. Natalie is a fabulous photographer with a great eye and artistic style. She is great at capturing the story of who each individual teen is, through their photo sessions. Hip music, a VIP style make up artist (the wonderful Taylor) in studio, unlimited wardrobe changes, friendly upbeat personalities- are all a part of the experience. Their cute little studio located in Pittsford, with chandeliers and chic design elements really set the tone for a memorable photo shoot experience.

Here is a sneak peak of just some of the photos:

All of these girls went with a very natural, subtle look and rocked it out!

Spa Jama Sleepover Party

Today we are sharing some ideas for the Spa Jama theme. One of our most popular teen party requests- although this theme can be used for all ages- even adults- when adapted appropriately. We have even heard of a "Bedtime Story" themed Baby Shower that many of these design concepts would work with. Adorable!

We love the idea of setting the bed up as a table setting for this theme!

This adorable breakfast buffet inspiration is just the cutest for a child's Sleepover!

These adorable spa themed sleeping masks from MommaWants1More

You can use this same concept to inspire some adorable invitations! By using felt or cardstock, use scissors to cut out invitations in this shape. Using a hole punch, punch a hole on both sides of the mask and use a pretty, coordinating ribbon to create an "elastic band". Remember, the invitation is the first impression guests get of your event- spend the extra time and make it impressionable!

From our personal experience from parents reviews, a spa themed sleepover is the perfect solution to any parent dreading the idea of a sleepover party! The spa theme usually calms & relaxes and parents tell us saying "Wow! We have never seen them this quiet!"

Mermaidia Under The Sea- Splash Splash Celebration Bash!

In addition to our fabulous "grown up" spa events- we offer the poshest children's events that Upstate NY has to offer! We offer an event that children will remember forever. With the warm weather upon us, we would like to feature this fabulous summer party plan- our Meramidia Under The Sea party!

As each child arrived to the party, she was given a mermaid costume to change into and could choose accessories to create the perfect mermaid look. For boys, we had pirate costumes, eye patches and pirate hats!

A real mermaid visited this party- pampering the girls with make up, face paint and nail painting! They were also led through the Mermaid & Pirate Promise ceremony where they were given the rules to become "real mermaids and pirates" for the day.

Children decorated their own Treasure Chests! They decorated with stickers, foam letters, glitter and glue and had a fabulous time personalizing each trinket box and making it their very own.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

With summer around the corner it seems as if everyone is expecting or announcing the arrival of a new little one. We thought we would share some great ideas for a Spa themed Baby Shower or Baby Sprinkle. A spa themed shower may just be the perfect idea to help the mommy to be relax and find some comfort & relaxation before her little bundle of joy arrives. She probably can no longer reach her toes and could probably also benefit from a good prenatal massage for neck and back pain. So where should you start? Here are some inspirational ideas to help your creative juices to flow! You can hire professional therapists to come treat your guests to luxurious spa services or you can set up stations for guests to try out different DIY spa services.

DIY:
Set up spa stations with things that you already have at home. Paraffin Wax station, nail painting station (make sure you set out a variety of polish colors, cotton balls and nail polish remover so that guests can take turns painting each others nails) A pedicure station with a basin for water, plenty of towels and you may want to consider small pebbles or stones in the bottom of the basin for guests to massage their feet with. You may also have an electric massaging footbath that guests can take turns with, depending on the size of the group. If you have a massage pad, set up a station where guests can take turns sitting in the "massage chair". Another great option to have is a facial station. There are plenty of great websites online where you can find homemade facial scrub & mask recipes. Just advise guests to do a patch test first, before applying it to the face- to avoid any allergic reactions- especially for guests with sensitive  skin. Another fun station would be to set up a Yoga (or Prenatal Yoga) DVD and encourage guests to get involved!

Another option is to hire a professional staff to come in and treat your guests to professional services. This will cost anywhere from $20 per person (including gratuity) to $150+. The advantage to hiring a professional spa company is they will usually provide spa robes for massage and facial services, spa music, light spa decor such as rose petals and candles and they bring all of their own products and equipment. Professional services can range from nail services to facials, body treatments, massage, spray tanning, yoga, make up, hair etc. For more information visit: Spa Events NY

If you want to cut costs, but still do something special- consider making your own stations, but hiring a massage therapist to come and treat each guest to a 10 or 15-minute chair massage. Chair massage is a very inexpensive option, costing $1/per minute (before travel & gratuity). Spa Events NY
Do not forget:
Soothing Spa Music
Rose Petals
Plenty Of Candles
Magazines for Guests To Enjoy
Robes- Greet each guest with a robe as they enter the party. Depending on your budget, these robes can serve as party favors for guests to take home or you can also advise guests to bring robes/slippers to the party of their own to wear.
Spa snacks- fruit, light horse’ devours, wraps, tea sandwiches & hot or cold soups are just some ideas

If weather permits, consider hosting your spa soiree outdoors! Poolside, Garden or Back deck or patio set a great scene for a spa themed shower or event.

Favors: Flip Flops, Spa Robes, Manicure Sets, Lotions, Nail Polish, Candles, Bath Salts, Bubble Bath, Individually wrapped cookies shaped as different spa items (i.e. nail polish, woman with a green face mask and cucumbers on her eyes, lipstick, hands etc.)

Spring 2011 Nail Trends

So we have finally entered the blogging world! We are excited for this opportunity to bring you amazing DIY party ideas, beauty tips and so much more. If there is something in particular you would like to see on our blog, please feel free to send us an e-mail at info@spaeventsny.com with your ideas.

With spring upon us, you are probably thinking about pedicure appointments to get your tootsies into tip-top shape before flip flop weather is here. (Although hopefully you have gotten a few maintenance pedicures at least throughout the winter to manage dry skin and calluses that come with our wonderful Upstate, NY winters) Some of you may be interested in what the newest spring colors & trends are for 2011. Well we are here to tell you!

Nudes are big! Above is manicurist Josephine More working behind the scenes at Fashion Week 2011 holding up one of our personal favorite shades: Innocence by China Glaze. Designer and industry veteran Tadashi Shoji chose this sheer, pale, pink polish for his renaissance-themed Spring Collection. Nude nails were a favorite, without a doubt at the Spring 2011 Fashion Week in New York and it works well with all skin types for virtually every season.

                                                    Eva Mendez

Other similar nude colors we love: Diva Bride & Heavenly by China Glaze or Bubble Bath by O.P.I

                                         Lady Gaga

                                                   Beyonce

Fashion Week 2011

Another trend that is huge right now are Metallics! Various metallic polish shades and minx nails are all over the runway this year A lot of celebrities, including Jessica Lowdens, Beyonce, Lady Gaga & Rhianna have been spotted sporting trendy metallic polish colors as well. We think that the key to keeping these nails looking chic and sophisticated is keeping the nails short. Go too long and they may get a little funky!

We all know Pastels are inspired by the pallet of a flowerbed and what a perfect way to inject a pop of color into our spring look! Pastels are HOT for spring! We especially love this particular shade by China Glaze called Refresh-Mint. Blues of all shades seem to be popping out everywhere this season as well; so how appropriate is this light pastel blue color for spring! We love it.
Pastels such as peachy pink also look fabulous with a great tan and Lavender is another one of our favorites that look stunning with every skin tone. While pastels seem to always be "in" for Spring, lavender and peach seem to be jumping out from the rest for 2011.

Some more of our favorite blue choices:
China Glaze-For Audrey, Essies-Coat Azure & Zoyas- Akyra
